Into the wild heart of Africa

Singita takes special care to search for and single out locations that speak to our need for wilderness, freedom and space. Each is a unique expression of what it means to be immersed in raw and untouched nature. Set in the remote southeast of Zimbabwe, on 115,000 acres of private untouched wilderness, Singita Pamushana Lodge and Singita Malilangwe House, in the immaculate Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve, are escape personified.

The soul and scenery of Africa

Inspired by their surroundings - the untouched beauty of the landscape and vibrant African spirit of Zimbabwe - Singita’s lodges here offer a journey through time and into the tribal and archaeological history of this ancient land, while providing the very pinnacle of contemporary luxury travel standards.

Singita Pamushana Lodge and Singita Malilangwe House offer a true immersion into raw, remote Africa

Situated high up on a sandstone ridge overlooking the Malilangwe Dam, Singita Pamushana is an intimate lodge made up of only eight suites, each with a private plunge pool, and panoramic views of the breathtaking landscape. The lodge itself, built as a series of interlinked platforms, offers scenic spaces to enjoy the scenery and connect to the landscape – expansive decks and a clifftop self-help bar deli constantly connect guests with their surroundings and allow for relaxed, casual dining, storytelling and soaking in the atmosphere in a picturesque part of Africa.

Best of all worlds

Guests can slip seamlessly into the easy natural rhythm of life in the wilderness, with all the activities you’d want or expect on safari, such as bush walks – where an experienced Field Guide will lead you through the landscape for amazing one on one encounters with the flora and fauna – and twice daily game drives, taking guests on immersive experiences in nature surrounded by the sounds, sights and smells of the bush, or star gazing into the clear night sky. But courtesy of the lodge’s proximity to the Malilangwe Dam, guests can also venture out for excellent fishing throughout the year – expect to land anything from Tiger Fish to Bream – or simply enjoy a sundowner boat cruise on the gentle water.

Game viewing, bush walks and fishing are just some of the activities you can explore as a guest at our lodges in Zimbabwe

Back at the lodge, the idyllically positioned main swimming pool and deck with its enviable vantage point and tree-shaded loungers offer a serene and picturesque space to just enjoy the stillness, the connection to nature in itself a restorative experience. The wellness treatment area also offers guests a sense of wellbeing through a range of holistic treatments inspired by authentic African rituals and ingredients.

For guests staying at Singita Malilangwe House, a five-bedroom exclusive-use villa, days can be whiled away enjoying the rim-flow pool and on the dining decks.

Looking back, and forward

A stay at Singita Pamushana Lodge and Singita Malilangwe House offers a deeper connection to the land too. As well as paying homage to their location through an aesthetic nod to their heritage and celebration of the landscape, these destinations offer true immersion for guests in the form of a journey into the cultural and historical depth of this ancient land – an integral part of a stay at this remarkable property. Visits to rock art sites and a glimpse into the San people who created them will drive home the far-reaching history and heritage of this unique place, while on a more immediate level, guests can also learn about the Shangaan people whose communities are intertwined with Singita’s presence in the reserve. Community visits (COVID-19 protocol allowing) give insight into their heritage, craft and daily life and some of the projects our conservation partner, The Malilangwe Trust, has developed in partnership with the local residents to further employment and promote prosperity.
