A Gleaming Jewel in the Heart of the Kruger National Park

Taking creative inspiration from the rich colour palette of its riverside location, the design detail of Singita Sweni Lodge draws on the iridescent sheen of bird feathers, butterfly wings and beetle shells to create a bold, new African context for contemporary safari style. This intimate hideaway, hidden among the trees on the banks of the Sweni River, offers guests an alluring escape from the world; a tranquil retreat in the heart of the African wilderness.
Guests have private access to Singita's 33,000-acre concession in the Kruger National Park to discover its varied habitats. An abundance of wildlife flourish in its riverine forests, areas of open grassland and craggy granite ridges. The southeastern reaches of this world-famous reserve are known for high concentrations of Africa's most iconic animals, including elephant, leopard, hippo, giraffe, cheetah and a number of formidable prides of lion.

Colour is used throughout Sweni Lodge to reference these diverse landscapes as well as their most vividly-painted inhabitants. The work of talented local artists and craftspeople provides many of these bright accents in the lodge, including artist Sarah Pratt, sculptor Adam Birch, lighting designer Conrad van der Westhuizen and weaver Coral Stephens. Each piece, a work of art in its own right, contributes to the lodge decor, bringing an uplifting energy to the interiors with the daring use of colour and texture. Bright wall hangings by African Sketchbook and beautiful handmade tiles from Southern Art Ceramics bring a tactile element to the interior environment, lending an added layer of warmth and luxury to the lodge.

The six contemporary, open-plan suites overlooking the river maximise comfort and contact with nature, offering panoramic vistas and a constantly changing view of the landscape. The Sweni Pool Suite, with its unique inclusion of a private swimming pool and shaded riverfront dining deck, can be connected to the adjacent suite, through an enclosed covered walkway to create a more generous space for families and friends travelling together. Every moment brings guests closer to the lodge's magnificent surroundings.
