Sustainability at Singita
At Singita, sustainability is where care for environment, care for our people, and a purposeful business, supports our commitment to preserve and protect Africa’s wilderness for future generations.
We recognise that sustainable operations across all our lodges and support offices play a major role in achieving our purpose to preserve and protect large areas of African wilderness for future generations.
We consistently strive to be more sustainable by doing all we can to reduce our ecological footprint and to improve the lives of our people, and those in neighbouring communities.
Sustainability Plan
We aim to embed The Long Run's 4C methodology throughout our operations so it becomes a natural part of how we conduct business, strategise, build new properties, and create guest experiences.
Singita Kruger National Park is our first official Long Run Fellow and we envisage that all of our properties will join in due course. We are currently ensuring all properties are aligned with The Long Run’s approach to sustainability.
Prior to 2024, we were part of Bioregional’s One Planet Living Community.
Our Sustainability Partner
After many successful years as a member of Bioregional’s One Planet Living community, Singita transitioned to partnering with The Long Run in 2024. The Long Run is a global community of tourism industry change-makers, from eco-lodges to tour operators, dedicated to accelerating positive impact through a framework combining conservation, community, culture, and commerce. The change was made to be more collaborative and connected to Long Run’s wide peer network of African and international eco-tourism providers.
The Long Run
Singita’s sustainability partner – The Long Run – have worked at the intersection of nature conservation and sustainable tourism since 2009 and are rooted in the vision that tourism can create lasting prosperity for people living on a healthy, resilient planet. Long Run members understand the delicate balance and connection between human and natural ecosystems and how they co-exist. They advocate for innovative solutions and collaborative action to harness tourism as a force for good. The Long Run partners with leading organisations to shape the agenda and inspire nature-positive climate action and holistic sustainable tourism, worldwide.
The Long Run's 4C sustainability framework comprises four sections: Conservation, Community, Culture and Commerce. These four are then further broken down to detailed subject areas for Singita’s specific context. These sustainability principles are critical to the fulfilment of Singita’s 100-year purpose and impact goals for 2030, and continue the good work fulfilled during the One Planet Living membership.
Singita Kruger National Park became an official Long Run Fellow in 2024. All other Singita properties will align with the 4C methodology and become fellows of the programme over the next few years.
