Kwitonda Lodge
A nurturing sanctuary on the edge of Volcanoes National Park
Designed with respect to its remarkable location
Set right on the edge of Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, where more than a third of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas find refuge, Singita Kwitonda’s unrivalled position puts life changing gorilla trekking experiences within easy reach. Each of the eleven luxurious suites features a private heated plunge pool, wellness treatment area, in- and outdoor fireplaces and large timber-framed windows that welcome breathtaking scenery and volcano views inside.

A deeply transformative experience
Created in response to its dramatic setting, the luxury lodge includes elements such as woven ceilings and hand-fired terracotta brickwork crafted by local artisans, while a dedicated Conservation Room and on-site nursery and vegetable garden – which provides fresh produce for Kwitonda’s farm-to-table food journey – further enhances the experience. Offering guests a nurturing space within which to contemplate their encounters with the remarkable “gentle giants of the forest”, the lodge envelopes them in a sanctuary of warmth, stillness & solitude.

The Long Run
Singita’s sustainability partner – The Long Run – have worked at the intersection of nature conservation and sustainable tourism since 2009 and are rooted in the vision that tourism can create lasting prosperity for people living on a healthy, resilient planet. Long Run members understand the delicate balance and connection between human and natural ecosystems and how they co-exist. They advocate for innovative solutions and collaborative action to harness tourism as a force for good. The Long Run partners with leading organisations to shape the agenda and inspire nature-positive climate action and holistic sustainable tourism, worldwide.
The Long Run's 4C sustainability framework comprises four sections: Conservation, Community, Culture and Commerce. These four are then further broken down to detailed subject areas for Singita’s specific context. These sustainability principles are critical to the fulfilment of Singita’s 100-year purpose and impact goals for 2030, and continue the good work fulfilled during the One Planet Living membership.
