Tyme Mutema

Tyme was born in Zimbabwe in 1979. His remarkable wildlife career started at the tender age of 9 when he became a member of the Ornithological Society of Zimbabwe – the youngest black African to do so. He was also the first to contribute to their monthly newsletter, Babbler, providing updates on bird sightings and becoming a bird and butterfly fundi.

At 18 he was offered an opportunity to become a trainee guide with Zimbabwe Sun Hotels and his guiding career began on Fothergill Island, Matusadona National Park. He has spent most of his time as a guide in remote areas south of the equator including the Lowveld of Zimbabwe, also Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa and Tanzania.

He enjoys the diversity of the landscape and his favourite game viewing areas are the open plains of Banyini, the rocky outcrops of Nduna and the Chikwete cliffs.
