Field Guide
Sabi Sand
Sipho Night Sibuyi
Sipho was born in 1971 in the village of Newington, Mpumalanga province, west of Sabi Sand in South Africa.
He completed his education at rural schools in the area and trained to become a tracker after school, accepting his first position at Drifters Lodge in 1999 and joining Singita Lebombo in 2002. He was invited to enroll for Singita’s Field Guiding course at Sabi Sand in 2006 and returned to Lebombo as a guide in 2007, transferring to Singita Kruger National Park in 2013 and eventually joining Singita Sabi Sand where he still works.
Sipho’s intimate knowledge of these reserves make him a captivating companion as he shares his observations of the bush, the animals, the local communities, South African history, its people and its many cultures. He also enjoys soccer, biking, running, a good gym workout and reading.
