Field Guide
Kruger National Park
Rudi Hulshof
Growing up in Tzaneen near South Africa’s Kruger National Park, Rudi and his family regularly visited this world-renowned wilderness; and he was privileged to witness the profoundly meaningful impact of conversation from early on in life. These experiences and exposure continued throughout his adolescence, and as a young man, his passion for the beautiful Lowveld led him to join the hospitality and safari industry.
After studying Geology at the University of Pretoria, Rudi started his career in the foothills of the Waterberg region and before joining Singita, he worked at various high-end lodges in and around the Greater Kruger National Park for almost 25 years. As a professional guide, he continuously expands his knowledge and skills with specialist training and is endorsed as an FGASA Trails Guide Mentor.
Enhancing his interest in wildlife photography with studies in ethology (animal behaviour), Rudi loves to position guests in prime spots – and visualises shots before they materialise. He has won several international wildlife photography competitions, amassed a loyal following online, and secured many sponsorship deals with major photographic companies.
After excelling in various leadership and management positions over the years, his role as a guide at Singita Kruger National Park finally saw him come full circle as he fulfills his teenage dream of working in conservation.
