Medard Fundi
Medard was born in a small village South of Lake Victoria (Mwanza Region) in Tanzania. Since childhood, he was inspired by one of his close relatives, who worked with the Tanzania National Parks and wanted to learn more. To meet his curiosity, Medard was honored to join the College of African Wildlife Management – Mweka for a three-year training program. He graduated with the best student’s award.
After his studies, he worked with the Government of Tanzania as a warden in Mkomazi National Park (eastern side of Mount Kilimanjaro) for 5 years. He joined Singita Grumeti, Tanzania in 2008 where he was trained and qualified as a Field Guide. With Singita he has been exposed to constant and ongoing training in both guiding and management which has been conducted in Tanzania and South Africa.
With the new skills, in 2014 Medard was promoted to Explore Manager & Field Guide for the Singita Explore Camps in Grumeti, Tanzania. That promotion was resulting not only from his knowledge and experience but also from his passion with nature that kept growing every single day. In the course of his job, Medard has been fortunate to witness and enjoy incredible wildlife action in the field.
Medard left Singita in 2016 because of family commitments. However, driven by his passion, curiosity and want to share the safari experience with guests, he joined the team again in 2020.
