Marc Bowes-Taylor

Marc Bowes-Taylor, aka “Mac” was born and grew up in a small coastal town just outside the city of Durban where he found his first true love, the Ocean.

Days spent by his father’s side led to him being ‘a chip off the ol’ block’, finding the same passion for the out doors that his dad had. Weekends and holidays were mostly spent camping, exploring and fishing.

Throughout his schooling Marc built a reputation for being the wildlife enthusiast, with his biggest fascination being snakes. His interest in snakes guided him to his first job where he worked at a pet shop during the weekend. There after he completed a degree in Geography and Environmental Management in 2014, and just 4 weeks after completing his degree he enrolled in the guide training course at a lodge in the Eastern Cape where he was taught valuable guiding techniques and ethics. It had been his personal goal to one day join the Singita team, which he did most recently.

Over the past 5 years he has achieved his level 2 and full trails guide through FGASA. His most rewarding part of being a guide is seeing the guests reaction when being exposed to the beauty of the natural world. Other interests include birding, photography, walking and meeting people from all around the world.

“Being the link between the natural world and my guests is truly a privilege, there is no better feeling.”
