Field Guide
Sabi Sand

Kayla McClelland

With a longheld love of the wilderness, Kayla has been visiting the bush since she was a small child – from the Kruger National Park to family road trips through Namibia - and credits her parents for passing on their passion for nature. Her memories range from being woken up by her dad to listen to the sound of lions roaring in the distance to trying to identify a bird by its call.
When she left school, undecided at the time about her next step, Kayla took a gap year, which quickly confirmed that a city-based desk job was not where her heart lay. At that point she decided to turn back to her love of nature and enrolled into a Field Guide course, which she considers one of the best decisions she’s ever made, and from which an increased love of the bush has grown. She has been a Field Guide for five years and still finds she learns so much every day – with each challenge increasing her love of what she does. She finds great satisfaction in sharing her experiences with guests and the greatest joy in living through their excitement.
Kayla has started training for her helicopter license as a hobby and one day hopes to combine her love for nature and flying.
