Tengwe Siabwanda
Tengwe was born in the Nyaminyami or Kariba District of Zimbabwe in 1972. He is from the Tonga tribe, “the great fishermen”, who lived along the banks of the mighty Zambezi before the lake. From young, he learned about trees and their medicinal uses from his older brothers and father, who was a park ranger in Matusadona National Park.
He started guiding in 1999 and enjoys meeting people from all over the world and learning about their culture. As he takes guests on walking safaris, he listens to the animal sounds because it connects him to nature. He loves birds for their beautiful colors and he takes a special interest in kids on safari – especially their boundless energy and their many unexpected questions!
Tengwe has extensive knowledge of rock art, snakes and scorpions as well as the spectacular constellations of the Southern Hemisphere night sky.
