There’s a deep creative spirit that flows across this continent, brought to life by the stories and imaginations of its people. Africa Is… represents our commitment to honouring those who channel this spirit through their craft.
We believe there is no greater inspiration than nature, experienced intimately. By inviting artists, storytellers, and creatives into our spaces, we hope to help them find the conditions in which creativity swells, and the pause that galvanises their creative spark.
Through this collaboration between people and the natural world, we acknowledge the universal purpose of creativity – which is to connect – and seek to create opportunities for others around the world to experience the depth and diversity of African talent.
Metamorphosis: now exhibiting at Singita Kruger National Park
Inspired by the cycles of nature and the idea that transformation is both inevitable and necessary, artist Tatenda Chidora crafted a collection of botanical sculptures using seed pods gathered at Singita over the changing seasons, and photographed them across our Kruger concession.
Together, these works form Metamorphosis, an immersive, multi-sensory exhibition now live in the gallery space at Singita Kruger National Park. Each artwork is available for purchase in limited numbers, and a portion of every sale contributes directly to the Singita Lowveld Trust, supporting conservation and community initiatives in the region.
Our most recent artist in residence: Mmangaliso Nzuza
Partnering with artists, galleries, and curators who share our passion for spotlighting the continent's creative excellence is central to Africa Is…. This finds expression in several ways, one of which is an Artist in Residence programme.
Mmangaliso Nzuza is a South African painter whose distinctive large-scale oil paintings draw from his personal experiences and popular culture to explore themes of community, subjectivity, and social dynamics.
He recently spent time at Singita Sabi Sand, exploring the landscape and channelling the inspiration that arises into a series of artworks he created from a dedicated studio space in our Boutique & Gallery.
