Putting our purpose in motion — join our annual events to make an impact

The crunch of gravel underfoot. The deep burn that turns to an ache. The dust that blankets our shoes and mud that creeps up our calves. The final push before the view. That look to either side at your companion, and the shared smile that signals accomplishment; a meaningful journey endured.
There’s a unique feeling of satisfaction that comes from testing our endurance, particularly in beautiful places, with people who share our inclination for adventure. This satisfaction sharpens when we know we’re pushing ourselves for a purpose — every step we take making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it.
Our annual purpose-led events, held in collaboration with NGO partners across our regions, are an invitation to move through some of Africa’s great wildernesses with intention.

Wagora Bike Ride

Singita Grumeti, 29 October – 03 November 2026

This five-day journey, held in partnership with the Grumeti Fund, includes a 150-kilometre cycle across Singita Grumeti over three days — in solidarity and support for the Grumeti Fund’s anti-poaching scouts, who fearlessly and ceaselessly protect the wildlife of the western Serengeti.
Riding the same terrain these scouts patrol daily, participants will also spend time engaging with the Fund’s teams to learn firsthand about their conservation and community initiatives, before ending each night at Sabora.
The event stands as a powerful tribute to brave individuals who protect Africa’s wildlife. It’s a ride that asks participants to feel, in some small way, what it means to move through this landscape with purpose and resolve — specifically honouring the memory of Kitaboka Wagora, a scout who made the ultimate sacrifice for conservation when he was tragically killed by a poacher in 2008. His memory continues to inspire others to follow a path of bravery and commitment to protecting Africa’s wild places for future generations.

Serengeti Girls Run

Singita Grumeti, 23 – 29 October 2026

This all-women run across the Serengeti plains, hosted in partnership with the Grumeti Fund, covers 21 kilometres a day across multiple stages to raise funds for girls’ empowerment programmes in rural Tanzania.
Along the way, participants can engage with the local girls these programmes empower, and the Fund’s teams to learn about their work in the region. When the day’s running is done, they’ll come home to Sabora, where the pool overlooks a busy waterhole, the tents and dining spaces open onto the plains, and nights are spent around the fire, exchanging stories under the stars.
More than a run, it’s a way for us to connect deeply with the landscape, its people, and a future being shaped — one young woman’s harnessed potential at a time. While you’ll also attend a career fair for local high school girls, meet the Grumeti Fund’s Anti-Poaching Canine Unit, take a tour of the centre for Research and Innovation for the Serengeti Ecosystem (RISE), and go on evening drives across the concession, observing wildlife and soaking up the Serengeti’s iconic sunsets.

Ubumwe Women’s Trail

Singita Volcanoes National Park, 26 February – 3 March 2027

In February 2027, we’ll be hosting the first-ever Ubumwe Women’s Trail in partnership with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. This multi-day event involves a 15–18-kilometre trail run, a gorilla trek, and a guided hike to the original site of the Karisoke Research Center, where Dian Fossey spent 18 years and now rests alongside the gorillas she devoted her life to protecting.
Participants will also enjoy a behind-the-scenes visit to the award-winning Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, where they will meet frontline conservationists and see first-hand how science and community engagement are exponentially strengthened when they come together to save gorillas.
In Kinyarwanda, “Ubumwe” means “unity” or “togetherness”. It’s a philosophy of acting for the collective benefit of one’s community rather than for individual gain. And it captures the spirit of this event, which aims to raise funds for the Fossey Fund’s Village Vitality Project. This initiative supports local women to become powerful leaders for transformative, community-driven conservation and climate resilience efforts that benefit their entire ecosystem.
We would love for you to join us at these events, to experience the wild from different perspectives while contributing to meaningful, lasting positive change. As places are limited, we encourage you to reserve your spot early. For queries, please contact Nosipho.M@singita.com.
