Ride the Serengeti – the inaugural Wagora MTB

Our passion for immersing guests in the wilderness is matched only by our desire to support those who safeguard it and further its conservation.

These two core principles come together in a truly meaningful way in the form of the inaugural three-day Wagora MTB Ride – a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride for a cause through the iconic wilderness of the Serengeti while honouring the fearless anti-poaching Scouts of our non-profit partner in Tanzania, the Grumeti Fund.

Named after Kitaboka Wagora, a respected and revered ranger who was killed by a poacher in 2008 while in the line of duty, the event is a tribute to his bravery and dedication which continues to live on and inspire his fellow Scouts today. In his name, this event aims to raise awareness for the invaluable work of the Grumeti Fund and inspire others to join in support of this cause. But just as importantly, it will raise funds to further their efforts in the region, with a dedicated portion of the riders’ entry going directly to the Grumeti Fund’s Anti-Poaching Unit.

Camaraderie & purpose on the plains

Taking place 10 to 15 October 2024, this one-of-a-kind adventure is aimed at riders of all levels who wish to experience the unparalleled beauty of the Serengeti from the vantage point of two wheels.

Three days spent riding across the iconic landscape – 150 kilometres along the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park – will inspire awe and a deeper appreciation of the wilderness and those who protect it. It's not only an opportunity for cycling enthusiasts to push themselves physically, but to connect with other likeminded people from around the world in one of the most spectacular places on earth – the epitome of our Safaris with a Purpose.

When they’re not exploring the expansive scenery, guests will have some time to spend with the Grumeti Fund teams, learning about the many initiatives underway in the region in aid of wildlife protection, community upliftment, education and skills development.

During their stay, guests will spend time with the Grumeti Fund and Singita teams, learning about various community and conservation projects in the region

Sleeping under the stars

Exploring the plains by day and resting under canvas at night – the Wagora MTB Ride is all about immersion into the landscape, even during your downtime. During their trip, participants will be hosted for five nights at Singita Explore.

One of Singita’s three tented camps, Explore is a close-to-earth and authentic experience that encapsulates the spirit of safari through designs that honour its heritage and traditions, and that celebrate an intimate connection with your surroundings.

Evenings will be spent enjoying expertly prepared meals and fine wine under the night sky, and recounting the day’s excitement around a fire. Beautifully appointed tents to retreat to provide all the comforts one would expect from a Singita stay, and the gentle sounds of the surrounding bush set the scene for a restful night’s sleep to prepare for the day ahead.

Sleeping under canvas at Singita Explore will further immerse riders into the spectacular scenery
