As events around the world continue to unfold with respect to the coronavirus pandemic, we find ourselves together in a set of unusual and difficult circumstances. How we choose to embrace the challenges that lie ahead will likely become the legacy of our generation; a defining moment that could have a profound impact on our planet.
We have always been guided by a far-reaching and single-minded objective: to preserve and protect vast areas of African wilderness for future generations. At Singita, we hope to navigate this crisis together without compromising the vital conservation work that protects these areas and supports neighbouring communities.
As a family ourselves, we have great empathy for the challenges facing our guests, as well as our staff, wanting to ensure their health and safety, and that of their loved ones. Please be assured that we are strictly adhering to the directives of leading health authorities – including the World Health Organization – and that appropriate protocols are in place at all our lodges and camps. These include daily briefings with all members of staff, careful health monitoring, stringent hygiene measures and a dedicated emergency evacuation plan.
For guests with existing bookings or those planning to travel in the near future, we have introduced more flexible terms, allowing them to postpone for travel up to 14 December 2021 without penalty. Our reservations team is available to review all guest enquiries, which will be assessed on a case by case basis. Please get in touch should you have any questions or need to discuss your travel plans with us. For any new bookings made for travel between now and 14 December 2021, the deposit is 100% refundable up to 60 days prior to travel.
Our love for this continent and our desire to protect it is at the core of everything we do, which is why our response to the spread of COVID-19 is to lead with hope and compassion. Over the coming weeks, Singita’s social media platforms will provide a window into our world – think virtual game drives, regular wildlife reports and live sightings wherever possible – and offer a glimpse at the importance of the conservation work undertaken by our partners; work which will remain ongoing.
We thank you for your continued support and look forward to welcoming you back to Singita soon. Together, we hope the next phase holds a fresh perspective for us all and a shared sense of renewed optimism in the world; a new appreciation for this “Place of Miracles”.
