Wessel Booysen

Wessel, or Wess to his friends, was born in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, RSA. He lived a care-free life along with his two older brothers as part of a fresh air family: fishing, swimming, biking, hiking, playing sports, camping or exploring the spectacular Drakensberg.

As he travelled for work to Mozambique, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia after university, his yearning for the outdoors was rekindled which led him to complete a rigorous guide training course. He gained his certificate and participated in game capture and relocation programs for white and black rhino, giraffe, lion and cheetah in northern Zululand while qualifying as a turtle guide and conducting tours to see Loggerhead and Leatherback turtles nesting, laying and hatching eggs. He joined Singita as a guide and shares his sense of wonder, using a hands-on approach that encourages others to live life to the fullest, in awe of nature.
