Peter Chatama
Peter was born in 1977 into the Fipa tribe in the Sumbawanga region, alongside the Katavi National Park in Tanzania. He enrolled at Sokoine University of Agriculture in Dar es Salaam where he obtained a BSC in Wildlife Management.
His interest in conservation and guiding started subtly yet surely like the first light on a dark plain, slowly increasing to bring hazy shapes into full focus in bright light. The spark ignited when he started teaching these subjects at a college in Arusha. In 2006 he himself completed some further training at Singita Projects in South Africa and at Grumeti. Peter says his knowledge and experience increased dramatically after joining Singita Grumeti Reserves which has helped him to increase his dedication and commitment to conservation. He also holds a qualification as a Tanzanian Professional Hunter.
