Monika Malewski
Born in South Africa and bred in Namibia, Monika has fond memories of childhood holidays spent exploring the breathtaking wilderness areas of Etosha National Park in particular. Namibia’s vast landscapes and other natural offerings also sparked her lifelong passion for wildlife and photography, and after her schooling, she moved to Cape Town to study cinematography and editing.
Once she graduated, Monika yearned to immerse herself in nature, which led to her completing a yearlong course and embarking on a guiding career in 2012. Initially working in the greater Kruger region, she says she had wonderful opportunities at lodges in and around the Lowveld, before finding her way to Singita Kruger National Park in June 2021.
“While I enjoy all aspects of the bush, being on foot and getting up close and personal with the smaller things is my favourite.” She also has a keen interest in botany, birding and tracking. “Nature has a powerful ability to ground you and bring about a deep sense of humility. This prompted me to complete a yoga teacher-training course and I aim to combine yoga classes with guiding to create unforgettable experiences for our guests.”
