Matt Holland
Matt’s journey began at St Benedict’s in Johannesburg, where his school years were shaped by a deep love for the outdoors – always seeking moments in nature. He went on to Rhodes University, where he earned a degree in English and Psychology, bringing his curiosity about the human mind together with his love of literature.
After graduating, Matt returned to Johannesburg to teach high school English for two years, finding satisfaction in inspiring young minds, but the call of the wild was eventually too strong to ignore. So he traded the classroom for the bush, embarking on a career as a field guide. Starting in Klaserie, Matt honed his skills before moving to Thornybush, where he served as head guide at KwaMbili Safari Lodge, and later at Waterbuck. His journey then took him to the Kalahari, guiding at Tswalu, before achieving a lifelong dream of joining Singita.
Matt’s story is one of following your heart – from the classroom to the wilderness, where he now shares his passion for nature with guests from around the world.
