Field Guide
Sabi Sand

Johan Ndlovu

Johan was born in 1966 in Justicia, a village near Sabi Sands Game Reserve in South Africa. His career started as a mere habitat worker at Mala Mala Game Reserve.

He attended a field ranger training course at Kruger National Park in 1988, but was lured to the bright city lights although this diversion did not deafen the call of the wild, so he returned three years later to become a security guard at Singita.

Much to his delight (and he believes, in answer to his prayers) he was given a second chance when he was invited to attend a guide training course. Johan has continued to improve his skills and abilities and is proud that he has reached FGASA level 2 trails guide and done extensive rifle training. He is highly respected for his knowledge of South African history and culture, gained from reading commentaries on world events.
