James Ikamba

James was born on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and his love for nature and the great outdoors was cemented during his childhood. Not surprisingly, he decided to turn this into a career and after school, he obtained a BSc degree in Wildlife Tourism.

Crediting his father, cousin and brother for inspiring his passion for the environment, he fondly remembers the various trips they went on while he was growing up, and says it taught him so much about life.

His guiding career kicked off in 2009 and in 2013, James joined Singita, It’s been a daily learning process in the bush ever since, he says, and he finds guiding so thrilling and exciting that it often feels like he’s on holiday too.
