Field Guide
Kruger National Park

Garry Bruce

Garry grew up in Plettenberg Bay on South Africa’s southeast coast and his fondest childhood memories include family holidays in the Kruger National Park. He inherited a keen interest in birding and a love of the bush from his father, which fuelled his dream to become a guide. After finishing his schooling, his path led him to the UK and Europe, and Garry spent many years travelling the world while working on cruise ships. His longing to work in the bush was rekindled during a stint on a ship in Alaska and in 2012, he returned to South Africa and completed an EcoTraining Guide Training Course. Since then, he’s been a guide in the Pafuri region and at MalaMala, before joining Singita. Garry loves sharing the magnificence of the bush with guests, and especially enjoys spending time with elephants and tracking the area’s famous lion prides.
