Africa Is
Africa is Abundant. Africa is Inspired. Africa is Now.
Africa is Abundant. Africa is Inspired. Africa is Now.
There’s a deep creative spirit that flows across this continent, brought to life by the stories and imaginations of its people. Africa Is represents our commitment to honouring those who channel this spirit through their craft.
We believe there is no greater inspiration than nature, experienced intimately. By inviting storytellers and creatives into nature, the source of all life and so much inspiration, we hope to help them find the conditions in which creativity swells, and the pause that galvanises their creative spark.
Through this collaboration between people and the natural world, we acknowledge the universal purpose of creativity, which is to connect, and seek to create opportunities for others around the world to experience the true depth and diversity of African talent.

Metamorphosis with Tatenda Chidora
Tatenda Chidora is an award-winning Zimbabwean artist based in Johannesburg, South Africa, whose mode of visual storytelling both investigates and celebrates multifaceted expressions of blackness, exploring themes of identity, place, and manhood. We invited him, alongside videographer Julian Robinet, to spend a week at Pamushana and document his experience - watch it here.
Our journey with Tatenda continues through a series of new projects that will unfold over the coming months. In the meantime, explore his thoughts on nature’s role in the creative process.

Upcoming Collaborations: Our Next Artist in Residence
Partnering with artists, galleries, and curators who share our passion for spotlighting the continent's creative excellence is central to our Africa Is series. This finds expression in a number of ways, one of which is an Artist in Residence programme.
Mmangaliso Nzuza is a South African painter whose distinctive large-scale oil paintings — still lives and portraits — draw from his personal experiences and popular culture to explore themes of community, subjectivity, and social dynamics.
Mmangaliso will be spending time at Singita Sabi Sand in November, exploring the landscape and channelling the inspiration that arises into a series of artworks he’ll create from our Boutique & Gallery – one of which will remain on exhibition. Travellers to the region during his residency can meet and engage with him.

Singita Boutique & Gallery
Our Boutique & Gallery spaces offer travellers the opportunity to source unique design pieces, artefacts, jewellery, and contemporary art from across the continent. Each item serves not only as a keepsake of a guest’s time at Singita but also as a lasting physical connection to the continent’s rich cultural and creative landscapes.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Singita Boutique & Gallery on your next visit to our lodges.
