“I joined Singita because it is ‘the place of miracles’ and I remember when I was young my Church Pastor used to call people to come to the pulpit to receive a ‘Miracle from God’, and I was always the first one to run to the pulpit because of this miracle. I first heard about Singita in 2002. I wanted to work for Singita and before the year ended in 2002, a miracle happened and I was successful in my application for a job at Singita!
Singita has changed my life completely, it is the institution of multi-skills and I personally believe I have achieved a lot working here, and grown so much. I have worked at Singita for 12 years, and my life has been transformed. I am truly honoured to be a Singita employee. Singita is more than a company and I’m very proud to be a part of all the accolades that Singita has achieved, since the start until now. The skills and knowledge that I have gained at Singita has made me a dynamic individual and my way has been paved; Singita has allowed me to be successful in my career.”
“I am grateful to Singita”
“I started working at Singita Lebombo in September 2010. During this time I was nominated for employee of the month numerous times, and won it twice. In 2014 I was voted as the “employee that goes the extra mile”. I worked as Assistant Head Driver for almost three years, while also working as the Airwing. I really enjoyed meeting the guests and seeing them off before they headed home. Most weeks I did the banking trip to Skukuza and was proud of the trust that accompanied this trip, as it included financial responsibility as well as dropping off/collecting guests at Skukuza airport. I also filled in for the Head Driver when he was on leave by doing the shopping trip to Nelspruit.
Since 2010 I have really enjoyed my job and working with everyone at Singita Lebombo. It was a sad day when John Mangane decided to retire, but it left some opportunity for me to grow within my department. I applied for the Head Driver position and was very happy to know that I was successful.
I am grateful to Singita for this opportunity and I plan to ensure that all drivers fulfil their job profile and I want to lead by example”.
“The future seems bright and alive with possibilities”
“I’ve always been a city girl. Born and raised there. All I have ever known was urban life. I worked in the city in salons and spas but I felt I needed to broaden my horizons; I knew I had to step up and step out. What better place to work for than Singita Sabi Sand!
My journey here has been one of sheer delight and of endless possibilities. Working for a 5 star resort is one of the highlights of my life. I came in as a Therapist and ended up learning so much more, not just about my passion in therapy but about the surrounding departments and the wildlife here. Each of them is an integral part of our everyday life and each of it making you a better person – not only for yourself but for your guests as well. In my short time here I’ve grown from strength to strength. My promotion to Head Therapist has shown me how much Singita cares for its employees and the growth that everyone can have here. It’s refreshing to work for a company that values its workers and loves to see them grow and flourish. At Singita Sabi Sand, the only limitation you’ll encounter is yourself! The future seems bright and alive with possibilities.”
“Singita is family for me”
“Singita is family for me. I joined the Singita team 7 years ago and I was so happy because it was my dream to work for this company. I love Singita. Working for Singita makes me feel like I’m running my own business because I am empowered to make decisions and work well in my department. I enjoy it here so much that this is where I would want to work until I retire. There is room for growth, I feel like I can become what I really want to be in life. I am learning everyday and one day I know I will reach the ‘top’ and my potential, and my dreams will come true.”
“Working for Singita has taught me to remain humble, patient and thankful”
“Joining the Singita team, almost 4 years ago, has removed my blinkers, after previously only knowing and understanding a Corporate working environment. It has slowed me down, brought me back to earth and cleared my outlook on humanity as a whole. It has enhanced my understanding of what makes people tick, no matter if dealing with a local Tanzanian staff member or a Fortune 500 CEO. Most importantly it has reignited a passion deep inside to do good whenever and wherever possible. Working in remote locations side by side with people not as fortunate, has taught me to remain humble, patient and thankful for every beautiful day that dawns on this dark but amazing continent we call Africa and we call home.”
“The caliber of staff you work along-side, become your family”
“After culinary school I landed a six month contract at Singita Lebombo and Sweni to cover for Jane, a chef from the local community, who was going on maternity leave. Soon after my arrival on the property it became evident that Singita is more than just a Luxury Safari Lodge. The caliber of staff you work along-side, become your family; you share an equal passion for excellence, pristine environments, conservation and ultimately delivering an unforgettable, unique and honest service to guests. It later became apparent that six months was not long enough for me! The bush steals your heart, the smell of the rainfall on the hot soil relates to something deep within ones soul and being a part of the Singita team is a dream come true for anyone who has an appreciation of African wildlife.
I was given so many opportunities to grow within Singita; my managers supported me and my creativity was never questioned. I love how the company is run under a brand ethos – where style boundaries are set, standards are established and performance is monitored.
I left Singita five years later, after accomplishing so much. Singita, without any doubt, moulded me into the chef I am, as well as the adult I am proud to be today. Three years later I still talk about the Singita group to friends as – ‘we’ have two lodges in the Kruger National park… which emphasizes the fact that you do not work for someone, at Singita you become a part of a team, a family, where together you work in aiding the world we live in, to become a better place! I never said a proper goodbye- because I know I’ll be back!”
“It is a career concept as opposed to a stepping-stone to somewhere else”
“I have been working for Singita for more than eleven years now, this in itself is a testament to the kind of company you too could be working for. There are not many people within the industry that have stayed in one company for this length of time. It is a career concept as opposed to a stepping-stone to somewhere else. Room for growth within the company, investment in training of staff and latitude to implement feasible ideas to improve on the guest experience make Singita unique. You are treated as a professional and expected to perform as such.”
