April is always an exciting month to be in the African bushveld. The weather starts to change during this month as days start to shorten considerably. Results are cooler evenings and much cooler and crisper mornings. Early morning safaris are enjoyed more from underneath a snug warm beanie, a scarf-wrapped neck and a cozy warm jacket and fleece.
As the morning warms up animals start to move more and more, especially toward water holes. This concession is well known for its drama at waterholes late morning and signs and promise of that have already been noted. The tall summer grasses are also fading away making game spotting a little easier. This does help when trying to spot leopard and cheetah, well known for their ability to disappear in long thick grass
