Singita Sabi Sand

Sabi Sand | February 2013

There are sights in Africa that grip you and stay with you for life. Scenes like these portrayed here are quintessentially African and can only be witnessed here. This is a paradise where all animals roam unhindered and free. Summer is a time of extremities where the sun can beat down on the back of your neck one day, and flood the rivers in dramatic fashion the next. The beautiful colours of the green grasses, blue skies, dark clouds and vivid flowers all add to make it a delightful time. We are at the turning of the season now and soon colour will fade to brown, but for now we enjoy the season’s abundance.

A morning with mother and cub

One early morning encounter with a leopardess and her year-old cub has given me one of my fondest memories as a photographer and guide. I left half an hour before sunrise and hoped to find them close to where we left them the night before.
