Joseph was born in the Serengeti district, Tanzania, in 1977.

His journey to becoming a wildlife ambassador passed through pistons, plugs and other engine parts. It started with him attending the College of Motor Vehicle Mechanics for a 4-year apprenticeship which led to him taking a position as a driver and motor vehicle technician at the Frankfurt Zoological Society in the Serengeti National Park. Within a short period Joseph had visited most National Parks and conservation areas in Northern Tanzania – including Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara and Tarangire – and these trips helped him to gain insight into human and animal behavior.

Joseph joined Grumeti Reserves in January 2003 where he excelled in the guide training program and he has since also qualified as a Tanzanian Professional Hunter. He has an exceptional understanding of the area, the wildlife and the indigenous cultures around the park.
