Given was born in 1980 and raised with his 5 siblings in Justicia village near the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

As with most boys, he and his brothers used to look after their family livestock, always competing among themselves to see which one was the best tracker. Spending school holidays visiting his grandfather who worked at Sabi Sand Game Reserve made a huge impact on his life and he joined the company’s maintenance team in 2002. He promised himself that he would continue to strive towards becoming a tracker and much to his delight, he was invited to attend a course, completing it with flying colors and becoming one of the best trackers at Singita Kruger National Park.

Given enjoys bird watching and reading about exotic places and people in his free time almost as much as he likes socializing with friends and learning about nature.
