Pecking order

This pride killed a zebra in the night, and when we found them the next morning in the rain the male was feeding at his own leisurely pace, while the lionesses and cubs looked on hungrily from the back-line.

Eventually a lioness slunk in and managed to take a leg without incurring the lion’s wrath, but the youngsters had learnt the pecking order and hung back, finding it all a big frustrating yawn.
