Singita Kruger National Park

December 2012 - Singita Kruger National Park, South Africa

December – several thoughts come to mind… Christmas, the season of feasting and over indulging swiftly followed by the New Year’s resolution of, “I am starting gym on Monday!”; prominent Orion along with Taurus in the night sky; cicadas; the return of several migrant birds; rain and heavy thunderstorms with the smell of wet soil being saturated; new flowers blooming, wildebeest calves and a clean start to a new year. A high priority for this year is focusing on rhino populations and supporting the fight against poaching. Here’s to 2013 and rhinos across Africa: May our children’s generations be able to watch them in awe – IN THE WILD, FREE. The month started off with light rain that was perfect for the bushveld, however it was short-lived and now we’re watching how seasonal water pans are slowly drying up and causing game movements to be altered.
