Scenes like these are quintessentially ‘Africa’. Huge skies and stunning colours all add to the beauty of summertime in this dramatic landscape. There’s no need to wander far from camp – a simple peek outside your room can often leave you breathless as clouds roll in during midday and stars glitter brightly after dinner.
Elephants form such and integral part of Africa. They are natural landscape artists. Through the activity of feeding and moving they sculpt the land surrounding them. They break branches as they reach high into trees to feed, push over trees in order to reach the nutritious roots and create wide pathways leading down to consistent water sources. Without them areas would be dense and impenetrable, and smaller mammals would not be able to reap the benefits of those areas.
